At the Protectorate, the villagers have a belief that there is a witch in the woods- an evil witch that will eat them all if they do not give a baby to her once every year. The truth is, there actually is a witch in the woods named Xan, who is the kind type of witch who doesn’t understand why the village gives away their children. One year, she feeds a baby, who she names Luna, moonlight instead of starlight. Starlight contains magic, but moonlight is magic. Xan, her little dragon, and her swamp monster friend try to raise Luna with many troubles like one too many magic accidents, a bad witch, the ginormous volcano erupting that may take out the Free Cities, and more. I loved The Girl Who Drank the Moon  because it is filled with magic and the right touch of sorrow to make the book a perfect read. If I were the author of this book, I would not change one word or sentence because this book was written so descriptively that if I changed anything the story would be ruined. If I were a character in The Girl Who Drank the Moon, I would not have solved the problem any differently because the way they solved it in an easy and safe manner. If I could pick one juicy word to describe this book it would be mystical because it is a mix of magic and adventure. The Girl Who Drank the Moon  is a wonderful and wondrous story for all ages.
